I think you can see Ben zip by briefly in this intense game of capture the flag.

Here is a clip of some classic Max refusing to go to bed.  He can be really stubborn at bedtime.

Eight is her favorite number and green is her favorite color, so of course this is the appropriate cake.  She invited some of her friends over for a slumber party.  Sarah took the gaggle of girls out to get their toenails painted.  That is what being a kid is made of!

Although it was messy, we all thought it was pretty funny.

He also tried eating a red crayon, which didn’t go well.  With all of the soggy, chewed crayon remnants in his mouth, he bit the couch out of frustration.  This left a large, red bite mark for us to clean up as well as the dirty child.  Kids!

We made our annual visit to the Wisconsin State Fair this year and it was blazing hot as it has been in years past.  The kids enjoyed the animals and we stuffed ourselves with all sorts of fair food.  Here is will giving his best to a creme puff.

He’ll be even more ready next year.

Ben and I attended the Twin Lakes scout camp this year.  What a great time!  Ben really wants to go back next year.  Here he is shooting a BB gun.

The really good stuff is the video I took of the Den vs Den game of capture the flag and the lighting of the campfire.  I’ll share it as soon as I get it up on youtube.

We made a visit to one of the local farmer’s markets to indulge in some fresh produce.

We were lucky enough to get a visit from our good friends the VBs in July.  We took a hike at Lion’s Den and made our way down to Lake Michigan.  Grace took a break from throwing rocks for a quick pic.

We did play hearts and even had the gall to pause the game to take a picture of the best hand ever…

…Marni was the clear victor.  Good times had again!

The kids earned a pair of free tickets to Six Flags Great America with their dedication to reading in school.  Grandma and Grandpa watch the little boys while Sarah, Ben, Grace and I made the trip to Illinois.  Ben and Grace loved the big coasters!  The American Eagle was their favorite.  Here is a quick shot of Mom and Grace as they were off on the Whizzer.
